Contracting your services to First Contact Ltd

From time to time, First Contact requires assistance to meet client demand for events and licensed premises work. This is often due to prior engagements, staff illness, or increased demand.

Historically, we have engaged other security companies to assist us. We are now expanding this to include people who hold a valid Certificate of Approval (CoA) to work as a contractor to First Contact.As a contractor, you control when, where, and the type of work you undertake. It is up to you when you are available to work.

Be a part of te Whanganui-a-Tara’s biggest events; test your skills by taking advantage of the array of roles on offer. Work as part of a team with other trained security officers under the guidance of our trained and qualified team leaders.

What you need to know

In addition to holding a valid Certificate of Approval (CoA) for the work being completed, you will need to issue us with an invoice to receive your remuneration. While we will help you with every step of this, here are a few of the key points.

  1. It must be made out to First Contact Ltd - We will give you all of this information

  2. It must contain your bank account and your IRD number.

  3. You are responsible for any requirements such as tax and ACC contributions.

  4. We pay our contracts by the Friday two weeks after the event.

  5. As a contractor, you are not entitled to any employee benefits.

  6. Being engaged as a contractor does in no way constitute any form of agreement other than a contractor between you and First Contact.

Sometimes security officers have to manage challenging people. We are seeking the professional security officers who manage to remain positive, proactive, and engaging as a measure of their personality, not sinking to the behavior of others.

For over two decades, First Contact has had an entrenched training program that every security officer is required to actively participate in. Training is what give you the skills to better manage challenging environments, be more professional in your role, gain exposure to different roles, and is a key ingredient in our exceptional health and safety record.

As a contractor, you would be able to participate in some of the training programs we offer our staff. All you need do is ask.

Do not worry, you will never be deployed into a role that we do not believe you are ready for.

Our starting rate is the Living Wage and we work hard to ensure our staff get an environment that creates a balance between home and work.
